1066 Tug of War Club
Home
Welcome to 1066 tug of war. The club was formed in June 2008 with a combination of experienced and new pullers. With the help of sponsors such as Gilbert Rugby, providing kit, and Crowhurst Park in Battle offering the perfect training site, the team has been able to bring home from the Federation nationals gold and bronze in 2009, and silver in 2010 and 2011 for the team’s mixed weights classes. Medals aren't won easily however. From March until October, 1066 can be found at their training site participating in a number of on- and off-the-rope activities. Building up strength and stamina is also achieved by running twice-weekly in areas from which its name first originated. That is not to say 1066 don't let their hair down once in a while! From fishing to shooting, or simply an evening at the cinema, 1066's success lies in the relationships within the group - and what better way to celebrate. As you can see from our website, this is not a male dominated sport! The women train and pull equally as hard, making 1066 the first fully mixed tug of war team in the south east.
